Harris House: Thirty Years in Atlanta

Last October, we had a business trip to Atlanta for TSFL, so we went down a couple of days early so we could see the sights -- and have some time away to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We stayed at the event hotel, the Westin Peachtree Plaza, which was a round tower -- making for some weird hallways to your room! We were on like the 40th floor with a huge window, so we had a great view of Olympic Park, the Coke Museum, and all the surroundings!

We left in the afternoon (the boys stayed at the Bennetts), and headed for Atanta. When we got there, we had a fun dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe just down from the hotel...it was SO LOUD in there, we could barely hear our conversation. Our ears were ringing when we left. We're so OLD...

The next morning we headed out to see the sights, and walked first of all over to the Coca-Cola Museum. On our way, we found our very own street! How kind of them...

The Coke Museum waiting area is completely covered wall-to-wall with memorbelia. Very cool stuff that brings back memories. We also went into a theater there and actually spent time watching all the COMMERCIALS they have produced over the years (by choice!). We were singing along, and going, "Oh yeah, remember that one...lalalalala"
I guess their advertising has worked over the past 40 years or so!

They had HUMAN SIZE bottles from around the world, all decorated by people from different cultures.

We watched a little 3-D movie about how fabulous Coke is...it was pretty amazing what 3D affects they can do these days. Funny what billions of dollars spent on a caffeine buzz will do for financing fun places like this!

One of the COOLEST things there was a TASTING ROOM! They had all kinds of Coca-Cola flavors from around the world, and you could get as many free samples as you wanted! Some of them were just DISGUSTING and you wonder how anyone could drink them! But there were lots of very interesting flavors to try, and we found Steve's FAVORITE from his mission in Peru, "INCA KOLA," which was a treat and a trip down memory lane for him!

Then we walked a few blocks over to the CNN World Headquarters/Studios. It was during this little jaunt that we experienced a little mishap with Steve -- more information about that HERE.

When we got to CNN, we took the "Inside CNN" tour. Now, I'm not a TV watcher (and if I was, I wouldn't watch the news -- and my Dad would say CNN is "Communist news" anyway), but it was a pretty cool thing to see how they do the news in a huge operation like this.
