Proven Wrong

Okay, so I must admit that I when the movie "Letters to Juliet" came out in the theaters, the trailers made it look totally predictable, and I was not even interested in seeing it! I wasn't a huge fan of the main actress (Amanda Seifreid), and I figured I had the plot all figured out before I even saw it!  Well... although I may have guessed the overall general plot, there were enough twists and turns, and fun along the way that I enjoyed every minute of it tonight!

Sam and I rented movies from "Red Box," and I watched a wonderful little romantic comedy while he watched "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" up in the bonus room, Grayson went to watch the UT game at a friend's house (and Steve's in Utah). Not really great "together" time, but we all chilled after a very busy week, and enjoyed our own evening!

So, back to the movie, I'd totally recommend it to anyone who loves a good, sweet, emotional, sentimental, sappy-happy ending kind of movie. And the music in it is great! (Colby Callait, Taylor Swift - not usually a favorite, but I like her "Romeo & Juliet" song, and other artists).

So, the "hard to please on a romantic comedy front" Siskel/Ebert/Harris review says three thumbs up!

Gladys Knight

We had the unique experience of attending the most FABULOUS concert last Sunday night! Gladys Knight, a member of the Church for about 14 years, has put together a choir, Saints Unified Voices, that goes around and sings gospel music, in the true sense of the term, like "Southern Gospel." They travel all over the country, as they have done for the past 8 years, and give these wonderful performances of songs ranging from "Come, Come Ye Saints" to "His Eye on the Sparrow" to "I Am a Child of God."

Although I've not been a big fan of gospel soul music, I could actually consider myself a convert after this wonderful concert! This choir was one of the best I have EVER heard!

My cousin, Todd Orme, is a member of the choir, and they were supposed to come out in May, the very weekend that we had the historic flooding that absolutely cancelled everything in Nashville for weeks! So I was glad they could come back. We went to breakfast with Todd on Saturday morning, and then they did one show Saturday, and two Sunday. We truly had a wonderful evening!

That choir ROCKS, and we found ourselves caught up in the music, the beat, and the spirit of the message. Tickets were free, and meant to share the message of the gospel with friends and loved ones. I was able to give away 56 tickets to friends and co-workers!

Our dear friend, Rochelle Payne came to the show with us, and her friend Jeanette, and another good friend Janice Long, too. Afterward, we visited with Todd for a few minutes, and got a group photo.

Fabulous Fall

I have been so enamoured with FALL this year! I always love the change of seasons, and especially as the colors change from summer to fall. But this year for some reason, the colors have seemed more brilliant, more amazing, more glorious! I've taken a few photos with my phone, and posted on Facebook, but they just truly don't do the season justice. So I had to borrow a few to express my love of FALL. I feel so blessed to see this type of beauty all around me each day!

On another note, my schweetie had a birthday last week, and we celebrated a couple of days early with the Bennett family. We had a fabulous dinner...then chocolate cake with raspberry filling and ice cream (LOTS and LOTS of ice cream) before we had our sugar rush, gained 10 pounds and passed out! But other than that...it was a fun day.

And also, so far this month, another red letter day was this past Monday when Grayson got his lower braces on, to match his upper braces. He's still as cute as ever!

A Rose is a Rose...

Much to my delight, my schweetie gave me a precious gift of time and love for our 29th Anniversary this past weekend! He had spent hours over the preceeding weeks working on something, but he does that all the time, so I really didn't pay much attention to what specific project he was working on.

When I finally got to see the finished product, it was BEAUTIFUL! And it was for ME! Almost all of his projects have been done for gifts for other people, and we have photos, but we don't have the actual cross-stitch to enjoy.



The rose & stem are about 22" inches tall!


This one was hanging up within minutes of opening it...so pretty, and so special to me.

29 Years...and Counting



Twenty-nine years ago today, October 2, 1981, I became Mrs. Stephen D. Harris. It was a beautiful October day in Utah, with clear, blue skies and cool weather.

In the past 29 years, there have been (of course) many exciting, challenging, rewarding, difficult and wonderful experiences. To summarize a few:

* Four wonderful children (now 10-27 years old)

* Pursuit of music career in Nashville

* The loss of beloved grandparents

* 7 Moves (apartments, rentals, and owned two homes)

* Job Changes/Financial Pursuits - several for both of us

* Steve going back to school, earning Masters degree - 2005

* Various illnesses and surgeries

* Memorable trips, vacations and recreation

* Education you could never get in a classroom
* Ups & downs, downs & ups, and everything in between

* Five wonderful grandsons (now 8 months to 3 years old)

I'm blessed to have a wonderful man with a kind heart, who loves me, serves our family endlessly, honors his priesthood and helps so many people in his work.
