For the past 5-6 years, the stakes in our region have combined forces and sponsored a "Mormon Prom" for youth 16 and up. Grayson couldn't decide if he wanted to go, because he didn't have a date, and didn't really want one. Hannah Bennett didn't have a date either, and since she has a driver's license and a car, she gave him a ride and they went as PROM PALS.
Lori Stucki from our Stake was in charge of it, and it was FABULOUS! There was a crew of about 30 Youth leaders at the church for two days decorating and setting things up. It was an all-out, full-fledged EVENT! I thought they did a great job.
The theme was "Passport to Paris," and they made it look like Paris! They brought in huge murals for the walls, set up cafe tables with red checkered tablecloths, real gaslight lamps, and draped & lighted the ceiling of the cultural hall. It looked amazing!
They had a great time. I really appreciate all the efforts of the youth leaders to make this a special night, and a great alternative for our kids to attend a clean, safe event (although many would also go to their school proms). It was a lot of work, and ended up being such a nice thing for our youth!

Wos. That is awesome! I love the idea. They spent sooo much time on the decorations and prep, obviously. Props to them.
