BYU vs. Georgia Tech

The last weekend in October, we went to Atlanta with the Bennetts to enjoy the BYU vs. Georgia Tech game. It was a great little get-away, and we had a fun time watching the BYU COUGARS stomp the Yellowjackets: 41 - 17!!

We left mid-day Friday, so that Friday night we could attend the fireside presented by the BYU players at a local chapel. That was cool to see the 'softer' side of the players, and I loved how when they introduced the speakers, they included "Eagle Scout" and "Return Missionary."  And I appreciated how the players encouraged the young men to pursue their sports dreams, but also to remember what's important, and how you can still live your values, be true to church standards and be involved in the sports world. The fireside was a great part of the weekend!

Jon Swift, Whitney (Bennett's) husband used to manage the team, so he was able to get tickets for them over in the BYU section. However, we got our tickets a little late, so they ended up in "enemy territory." Regardless, they were great seats (Row 14) and we all wore our new BYU gear and showed our Cougar PRIDE, sitting in the Yellowjacket section! Yes, we were brave souls...and we lived to tell about it -- which is a miracle! Let me tell you, those Georgia Tech fans are FAN-atics! They scream their lungs out, they all know all the cheers, sing the songs, stand up, sit down, do the wave, wear the yellow, the whole bit. The old folks, the young kiddos, everybody! We were definitely lucky to survive behind enemy lines. I haven't been to a BYU home game for 25 years or so, but I only hope our home games are this well supported by Cougar fans! That would be very exciting!

After the game we all went to the "Cheesecake Factory" -- YUMMY! And then we sat up until all hours playing games and laughing until we about wet our pants.

And then we drove home on Sunday. It was a fun weekend with fabulous friends!
