So long, Soccer! (Sorta)

Well, it's been a long time since my last post, and I'm so itchy to BLOG! And it's been such a busy few weeks, that it's really easy to understand why I'm so far behind...so, here goes.

Starting with Soccer updates...Sam's team were valiant players, but didn't have a great season as far as wins go. But he had a great time, and he and his buddies were very good sports all season.

Grayson's team, the "War Eagles," have been together for several seasons, and have kicked some soccer butt for the past several seasons, winning the championship two seasons ago, and 2nd place last season -- and now THIS season, they won the championship again! They were undefeated all season, in fact, they scored 63 goals this season, and only had 1 (ONE) goal scored against them! A-mazing! It was definitely a team effort, and Grayson earned "most improved player" on the team.

So...the last few games were played in very cold weather, like 35 degrees, so we were glad when this season ended, and looking forward to a break! But then Sam said he wanted to play INDOOR soccer, which goes from early November to mid-December. Whaaaa?? So, they play two 30-minute games right after each other, they are indoors, and weather is not an issue. And they are intense, so very fun to watch. He is loving every minute!

Christopher Rogan

Today is my firstborn son, Chris', 28th birthday. Amazing. I really can't believe that is so...! How can that be, (when I'm only 29)?! What a great adventure we embarked on when we decided to have a baby when we were so young!

We got married as KIDS, and Chris was born one year, one month, and one day after our wedding! We have told him many times over the years that he was our guinea pig, because although we did our best, we were clueless on how to raise a child. In some ways, I guess we still are -- thank heaven kids are resilient!



He had such soft, white-blonde hair, and
straight as could be. I always loved his hair!

Chris was always a happy kid, smiling, thoughtful, and a bit shy. He didn't like to talk to adults much, but put him in a group of kids his age, give him a few minutes to get his bearings, and he took the floor. He'd be chatting it up, taking charge, playing and having a great time. Slow to engage, but went like crazy once he got comfortable! Hmmmm...some things haven't changed! (wink)

We moved to Franklin, Tennessee in May of 1988 when Chris was five and 1/2 years old.

England/Leeds Mission from 2002-2004.



Chris married Nathalie Alexandre on
January 15, 2005 in the Nashville Temple.
What a wonderful addition to our family!

My friend Rachel had this posted on her blog, and it made me laugh out loud!

Proven Wrong

Okay, so I must admit that I when the movie "Letters to Juliet" came out in the theaters, the trailers made it look totally predictable, and I was not even interested in seeing it! I wasn't a huge fan of the main actress (Amanda Seifreid), and I figured I had the plot all figured out before I even saw it!  Well... although I may have guessed the overall general plot, there were enough twists and turns, and fun along the way that I enjoyed every minute of it tonight!

Sam and I rented movies from "Red Box," and I watched a wonderful little romantic comedy while he watched "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" up in the bonus room, Grayson went to watch the UT game at a friend's house (and Steve's in Utah). Not really great "together" time, but we all chilled after a very busy week, and enjoyed our own evening!

So, back to the movie, I'd totally recommend it to anyone who loves a good, sweet, emotional, sentimental, sappy-happy ending kind of movie. And the music in it is great! (Colby Callait, Taylor Swift - not usually a favorite, but I like her "Romeo & Juliet" song, and other artists).

So, the "hard to please on a romantic comedy front" Siskel/Ebert/Harris review says three thumbs up!
