And the Rains Came Down

I'm late in getting this posted, but wanted to document some of the horrific damage caused last weekend by the torrential downpour that hit middle Tennessee. It has been called by the media "the worst thing to happen to middle Tennessee since the Civil War." I was actually out of town during all this rainfall (see next post), and was watching all this take place on television from about 2 hours away. So, so sad to see Nashville and Franklin in this condition. It will take a very long time to get us back to where we were before.

There are many fundraisers and relief efforts in process to reach out to the many people who are homeless, or have severe damage to their homes and property. It has been very inspiring to see how members of the church have reached out to fellow members, and neighbors in efforts to help everyone. Our office, PHS, has two employees we are doing a "shower" for to provide money and clothing, since they lost their homes. We "only" have a small roof leak, and are counting ourselves very lucky in this disaster.

One of the saddest things for us Tennesseans to see is our famous "Grand Ole Opry" under water. There is so much history in that building, and it's such an iconic place. Very sad to see this damage.

And the Opryland Hotel...such amazing destruction to such a gorgeous, ornate world-renowned place!
