Cracker Puzzle

We recently went to one of our favorite eating spots, Cracker Barrel. We don't go there often, but when all of us are in the mood for a great breakfast (usually at a non-breakfast hour), it's the place to go.

As we were waiting for our meal, an older couple across the way started up a conversation. Sam was working on the triangle/peg game that is ALWAYS at the Cracker Barrel table. The object of the game is to "jump" over pegs and remove them from the board until you are left with just one peg.

...and the gentleman asked Sam if he wanted to learn the secret that would help him do the puzzle right every single time. Well, of course, Sam said he did, so the man had him come over to his table and watch him do it a couple of times. Then he had Sam come back to our table, and he coached him across the aisle several times until he could do it perfectly every time!

Sam wanted me to video him doing it, so "next time we know we're coming to Cracker Barrel I can watch the video and remind myself of how to do it."

So I have this fabulous video of the secret, scientific process...BUT of course I couldn't get it to upload. So if one of my BLOGGER guru friends could please help me out on figuring out the problem, then I can share it with the rest of the world.

Until then...you'll just have to rest assured knowing that if the future of the planet ever rests on the knowledge of solving that puzzle in a FLASH, Sam is your man.
